Happy New Year!

In many Asian countries, 2018 is the Zodiac “Year of the Dog” (). Rokkosan is a wonderful place to walk dogs and one can often see many people out for a nice walk with their pets. For those visiting with animals, please remember to be considerate of others and to clean up after your pet.

At the beginning of the year it got quite cold (-10c at places) and there was about 10cm of snowfall making for a beautiful winter wonderland. The weather has warmed up slightly, and most of the snow has melted, but the end of January through into February is the real winter season for Rokkosan, so be sure to dress warm and wear proper shoes for walking where their might be snow.

While the Mt. Rokko Nature Conservation Center is currently closed for renewal construction, the Mt. Rokko Guide House is open as usual. It is a great place to pick up information about what is happening on Rokkosan, rest your feet, get something to drink and warm up a bit.

The Rokko Cable Car is celebrating over 85 years of service and has produced a paper craft for both of the Cable Cars. There are a few left, so when you are visiting Rokkosan, stop by and pick up one, or even make it here as a memory of your visit.
